Dream Diary

September 25, 2023

I am looking out a window into what is I think the backyard, but has to be the front yard because I can see the driveways of other houses on our street. I can also see what appears to be an orchard of short fruit trees, maybe pears. There is movement among the pear trees, which turns out to be a couple of tigers. At some point something happens to one of the tigers (I can't recall, it was either shot, captured, or attacked by some kind of dog or coyote) In response, the second of the tigers moves away from the house and into clearer view, and I can see that there are two cubs with it. I think to myself, "That's not good."

Later, we are driving somewhere to get my dad a present for his birthday, which is tomorrow*. My mom is driving, my sister is sitting in the passenger seat, and I am sitting in the backseat behind her. I had been having some problems with my cell phone, and had done a factory reset in an attempt to solve the problem, but now my apps where having problems. We are driving in a somewhat rural area, where there are few buildings and fewer cars, and there are grassy fields (pastures?) all around us. The grass is that slightly yellowy-grey colour, which makes me think it was autumn or early winter. As we are driving, there is a building that is too close to the shoulder of the road. My sister tells my mom to "watch out" but it is too late, and as we skim the side of the wooden structure we are sent tumbing into the grass. The vehicle rolls over for a while, eventually coming to a stop on its right side. Thankfully we are unharmed, and the vehicle is intact. I attempt to message my dad but I can't because my phone and messaging apps are still not set up properly. As I am attempting to contact my dad, I can see an oil tanker in the distance. It collides with the now-collapsed building and also tips over, causing an explosion. The explosion causes our vehicle to roll again, this time my window shatters.

(*My dad's birthday, for reference, is actually in January.)

I am supposed to be getting ready to go somewhere, but my mouth keeps filling with blood, which makes me choke. I get a brief respite from the blood whenever my parents come by to see what's taking me so long, but that causes them to think I am being overly dramatic about it, and they just urge me to hurry up.

I end up in another room, I think my sister brought me there to rest. All four walls of this room have large windows, almost floor-to-ceiling and corner-to-corner, with the only part of the perimiter that is not windows being the part that is the door. It doesn't really make sense how this room is connected to the rest of the building it is a part of, since I should be able to see the rest of the building through the windows, but all I see is the sky and the cityscape, as if I am maybe four or five floors above street-level. The windows appear to be made of some sort of smart glass, and advertisements for things like fast-food are being projected on top of the cityscape and the clouds. Something about the advertising makes me feel sick(er), so I want to look away, but I can't because the room is entirely windows. I go around the room attempting to close all the blinds, all the while choking down my blood and nausea. With the blinds all drawn, the room more closely resembles an older-styled office building, all beiges and browns.

My right hand is full of pins, the kind with the round tops that are used for sewing. The pins are pushed all the way into the back of my hand so that only the round tops are showing. It doesn't hurt, but feels a bit tight, the way muscles do sometimes the day after a workout. I pull out one of the pins and compare its length to the depth of my hand. Despite the pin being longer than my hand is deep, the points of the pins aren't coming out the other side of my hand. It's unsettling, but since it's not hurting me I decide it's probably best to leave the pins where they are until I can talk to somebody about it.
